not sure why people always think of unaliving yourself as selfish. i think its very narrow sighted to claim it as a selfish choice. sometimes people dont really have the privilege of choice like eg. people who are terminally ill and reliant on people to care for them knowing that them being alive would mean theyre still suffering and burdening to their caregivers. how would u know if ur neighbour is terminally ill without them telling you? dont judge their character and intentions before knowing the full story. su*cide is a highly complex phenomena to write off as selfish or mentally weak people behaviour
and people dont do that just to make their family and friends upset. im sure they know FULL WELL the consequences of their actions, yet with all things considered, it is perhaps easier for them to bear the weight of that guilt than to bear the weight of the world while living. again, with the terminally ill patients analogy, those terminally ill patients would be living and feeling super bad that they have to be dependent on family to care of them with no glimmer of hope to recover. maybe some evil parents out there are also waiting for terminally ill children to pass just so they dont have to pay for that life support anymore. just because its an invisible / mental suffering doesnt make it less invalid than physical suffering? mental health issues can be chronic too.
stop judging people who do it or blame them or impose what u think is right or wrong on them. how can u make a right judgement call on people’s lives when u dk the full story. what they need is help and someone to listen to them. they need another way out. survival is a human instinct, they must have been so hurt that they are going against that instinct isnt it?
so please stop giving insensitive or ignorant comments and go get some education on how mental health works 🙏 things are not that simple, stop spreading false news that it could be easily preventable or recklessly jumping to conclusions about people’s character and values over this. its not representative of those individuals as a whole.
