Before commenting "Taiwan isn't China," please learn some history. Taiwan was governed by various Chinese dynasties for centuries, and after the Chinese Civil War in 1949, the losing side retreated to Taiwan while both governments continued claiming to represent China. The People's Republic of China inherited China's seat at the United Nations in 1971, and today the vast majority of countries officially recognize the PRC rather than Taiwan as the government of China. Whether you like it or not, the "One China" policy is the position accepted in some form by most of the international community. You can disagree with Beijing's claims, but pretending the issue is simply democracy or universally settled just shows a lack of understanding of the history and diplomacy involved.
